IV. Poetry Festival in Granada
18 March, 2008 - 14:23
Poets came from more than 50 countries, for example Germany, China, USA, Mexico, Nicaragua or Russia. Internationally recognized poets traveled to Granada, but also young poets made their debut in front of an audience. The event took place inside the Casa de los Tres Mundos as well as outside on the spacious streets, plazas, churches, study centers, and markets – all attractive places where poets, spectators, inhabitants and tourists could gather. The festival gaves room to undertake more activities than just reciting poems, including the presentation of concerts of Nicaraguan and foreign singers, art expositions, carnival, theatrical shows, and debates to discuss themes related to poetry. The ambition of the festival was again to dispread the poetry of Nicaragua, but also to etablish a cultural interchange between poets from different countries and different generations. Thousand of specators from all over the country came to participate in the readings or the other cultural events. The huge success shows that the organizers of the Granada-festival are on the right track to establish the most important poetry festival in Latin America . In areas: Venue |
